Here we are making bears for Primary Children's Hospital. My mom has helped my kids learn to sew in their 4-H club every summer, so they aren't total beginners, but when I help them it's a lot more like the blind leading the blind! The bears ended up with the funniest little lopsided faces and bodies, but somehow they were all still cute.
This was such a beautiful sunrise one morning!
Teddy and Ziggy being friends.
Teddy after he fell out of the (parked) van and had to get stitches on his chin. The worst part for him was the indignity of having to be "swaddled" (like a baby!) on the papoose board while they stitched him up. He kept sniffling, "I'm not a baby!" to me softly and sadly. He was the bravest little guy! He reminds me so much of Abe, who had to get stitches at this age too.
Ziggy's blessing day. My mom made him the darling white blessing gown.
Abe realized his lifelong dream of wearing a tuxedo when he sang in his choir concert in Abravanel Hall. The choir is part of Millennial Choirs and Orchestras, an organization we have loved ever since we heard my brother and his wife singing with the Orange County group several years ago. We were so happy when they started a Utah location! They sounded amazing and the kids were so excited to dress up and go to Salt Lake to such a fancy concert hall! Sam selflessly stayed outside with Ziggy so I could hear the concert. I loved it.
And lastly, from left to right: Goldie being simultaneously alarmed and delighted by the giant hugging bear at Lowe's; A bale of hay in a garbage can that Sam thought was worth memorializing; Helping assemble school supply kits for kids in Zimbabwe. Teddy loved zipping up the backpacks so much!
Those bears really are darling. And had I known about this garbage can interest, I would definitely have taken a picture of one I drove past the other day that, among other things, had a pumpkin rammed into a stake poking out of it.
ReplyDeleteYou really should have. Sam was so excited to show me this picture. He opened it up on his phone and handed it to me and sat there waiting with an expectant eagerness on his face. When I only managed a confused “oh....” I think I disappointed him deeply. But I didn’t know what he was hoping for! Disdain? Outrage? Admiration?
