Here's the picture of Malachi that Sam drew for his birth announcement. I think it's Sam's best painting yet. :) He really captured Malachi's happy, bright little expression.

Children's voices in the orchard
Between the blossom- and the fruit-time:
Golden head, crimson head,
Between the green tip and the root.
Black wing, brown wing, hover over;
Twenty years and the spring is over;
To-day grieves, to-morrow grieves,
Cover me over, light-in-leaves;
Golden head, black wing,
Cling, swing,
Spring, sing,
Swing up into the apple-tree.

We received ours the other day. Thank you, and it is indeed beautiful. I am always telling people about the awesome artist I am related to, even if it is just by marriage. I even showed a good friend Sam's blog. We oohed and ahhed together.
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Honestly, before I read the post I assumed it was a really cool picture of Malachi. Wow, Sam. That's a lot of talent. Good work.
ReplyDeleteI still think you should have named him Nelson Nielson...Yep, I like those Intrepids.
ReplyDeleteMarylin, it's Laura (Swenson) from your old college ward. i'm cousins with Sheila. I was blog-stalking you this evening and saw these beautiful drawings - I had no idea Sam had such an amazing gift! Your new baby is adorable. I hope everyone is doing well! I still have a copy of your "Happiness" talk from the old ward, and when I ran into Kara (Beck) Shapiro the other day she actually asked for it. See, you're famous! I hope things are going well - you were one of my best visiting teachers (even since then!)!
