The babylove continues around here. Ziggy has learned to produce a rare but winning smile, and everyone is constantly trying to elicit it. And he still has fur on his ears, little darling.
He also has the most trusting, confiding gaze. It makes you feel so important when you hold him, because he looks at you like you're the most fascinating and wonderful person in the world!
We've been gradually getting back to "real life." The kids stayed overnight with Grandma and went to the homecoming parade. Malachi got his "stage 1" braces off (that was some time ago, actually). We went to the hammock park with cousins.
The girls wanted to sleep in the playhouse for several nights a couple weeks ago, even though it was so cold outside! But they seemed warm and snug enough. The playhouse, as you can see, looks just like our house in miniature! I love it. But the "house" is really only one end of the shed, which is mostly for lawnmowers and bikes and so forth. So the actual playhouse part is very small and when all three girls and their million blankets got settled in, the whole room was full to the brim! I suppose that made them warmer.
I got out the camera to capture the interesting and pretty light at various times of day. And Teddy found a little podium on which he could stand and play the slide whistle for my entertainment. Oh, and that picture of Teddy by the bassinet is when he got a book and was standing there "reading" it to Ziggy one morning. So cute.
I love Sundays when I'm staying home from church with a new baby. I do miss being at church, but it's fun to help everyone else get ready and then just snuggle back in with the baby! One Sunday the girls were all wearing dresses that I had when I was little! My mom just found another box of them. The light blue one on Goldie was one of my favorites, and Junie is wearing the dearest little rosebud dress with a pinafore over it! (Pinafores. Does anyone wear those anymore? I love them.) The Mexican-style one was a hand-me-down even for me, but the other two were made by my mom.
Goldie loves to help Teddy get ready—choose his clothes, comb his hair, etc. The other day we were at Sam's parents' house for dinner, and when we left, we forgot Goldie! We drove a few blocks before realizing it, and then Daisy said "Where's Goldie?" at the same time Sam's phone rang with Grandpa saying "Did you forget something?" We all laughed and laughed and laughed, including Goldie. We reassured her that we couldn't have lived without her! And then she said to me very seriously, "Yes mommy, because if I wasn't there, who would take care of Teddy?" Sweetie.
Abe was very pleased with himself when he got Ziggy to wear sunglasses. But all Ziggy really wanted to do was gaze adoringly at Abe.
Also: Teddy's sweater has a picture of a bunny with a monocle! It's my favorite!
Such a beautiful, beautiful life!
ReplyDeleteThat sweater IS the best!!! And I love how Ziggy is always always gazing so intently at whoever is holding him!
