Thanksgiving, the aftermath and foremath

The house always gets worse before it gets better the week before Thanksgiving! Look at dear Teddy…head stuck in the fridge. He was so diligent and cleaned the whole thing by himself! Even took off the freezer door so we could reach all the cracks and crevices. The finished product was a thing of beauty!

The girls, sadly, did less Nutcracker dancing than they sometimes do. I think they were tired. But they did bestir themselves to do the Mirliton dance, with Goldie filling in as their partner Andrew when necessary.
Daisy did a great work of organization on the library shelves. They looked so nice! We breathed out great threatenings and cursings on whoever would dare to put a book away in the wrong place henceforth! (I don't know if it did any good. I think the library still looks…pretty good?)
I made this banner, in a fit of creativity (it comes upon me rarely and suddenly)
Speaking of creativity, what is our feeling about these gnomes? My family is divided on them. And when I say divided—I mean, me on one side, the entire rest of the family on the other. I say these are good gnomes, amusingly dressed as turkeys dressed as pilgrims. What could be more innocent and diverting? The rest of my children say they are an abomination and should never have been allowed into the house. Too bad for the rest of the family—I bought them, and they are here to stay!
Daisy got her first blanket order on Etsy (a lady in our ward ordered a blanket, bless her) and finished it up in good time. She delivered it all nicely packaged up with a Daisy sticker.
It's tradition now for Junie to have Clementine help her make pie. They made pomegranate pie, as usual.
Goldie made cream puff pie and flourless chocolate cake. Teddy helped me with the lemon sour cream pie—which I had considered foregoing this year, but was shouted down by the peanut gallery. I'm glad I made it, as it was my favorite this year (and is every year, honestly).
Daisy made the chocolate chip cookie pie start to finish, even rolling the crust herself. She is a fine pie-maker!
Gus and Clementine made tiny pies
Junie did these pretty pumpkin napkin folds
All the food was delicious and wonderful…
…but of course the real stars of the show were baby Parker and baby Eve, and Jacob-whom-we-must-stop-calling-Baby-Jacob.
Josh brought bubbles to play with, bless him
I volunteered for the difficult job of letting baby Parker sleep on my shoulder
It was a happy day full of things to be grateful for!

  1. I wish we had made more of Daisy’s chocolate chip cookie pie. It’s rare that we get it anyway, and I don’t think I had more than a quarter piece this year. I can’t complain though, because the reason I had so little was because everything else was so good!
Good job organizing all that cleanup, that element alone deserves all the praise in the world.
