My birthday

My birthday was such a nice day! Nice as in people were nice to me, and nice as in the weather was beautiful. I always wish to have a picnic on my birthday, and you might actually be surprised how often that wish comes true. Not every year, obviously. The year I was actually born there was a big snowstorm and my mom was afraid she wouldn't get to the hospital in time! But not not every year, either.
Anyway, my kids always wear yellow for me on my birthday. It's cute. And I wore my yellow dress too, of course!
Gus got as close to yellow as he could.
Breakfast on the bunny plate
We did, in fact, have a picnic!
Daisy took Sam and me to Nielsen's for lunch, and we ate our custard outside after. The kids had lots of fun on the playground.
Junie made me THE CUTEST PIG. I can't believe she made up the pattern! It matches one of her big pig stuffed animals and I love it so much.
And then…remember the tiny elephant that was such a big hit at Goldie's store? The one I would have bought if it weren't for Daisy swooping in with her bags full of money and getting it first? Well, Goldie made me my OWN tiny elephant! And now he and the piggy can be friends! They're so cute!!
Here they are with their big bally counterparts.
Got lots of cute cards and notes from the other kids too. I don't know why Gus is calling me Marilyn here. Perhaps he thinks it sounds more official? And who doesn't like a bunch of really tall buildings?
We had a really pretty sunset which Clementine and I watched from the hill
To cap it all off, we watched "Pirates of Penzance" (the best movie) and then the girls commenced to re-create the dancing in it.
We (especially they) were dying of laughter. They were so good at imitating the pirates and the policemen!
You can perhaps imagine from these pictures the silliness taking place. It was the perfect ending to a happy birthday!
