Clementine's first year

I was looking back at some of these old "first year" posts as I was making this one. I only started doing it with Junie (much to Daisy's indignation), and then who knows what happened with Gus! I think I probably thought "what am I doing this for?" and stopped. It's not like I don't take any OTHER pictures of the little dears. 

But then there's just something so fun about looking at these babies month-by-month, all lined up together.   So I made another attempt with Clementine, and even though I missed September, October, and November (!) it's still cute to see how much she grew and changed! I think my favorite thing is seeing how babies refuse to sit docilely in one spot by the end of the year. They crawl all about and even stand up! Almost as if they have minds of their own! :)

(And after making this, I felt bad about Gus and went back and hastily found a few monthly pictures of him too. And posted them back-dated in 2021 so we could watch him change from a skinny Gus to a chubby Gus. Because that was some transformation!)

Anyway, here is Clementine in…some of the months of her first year. The little darling.

She has quite a monkey-ish expression in that last picture, and I'm sorry to say it is an accurate reflection of her current monkey-ish soul! She's not at all the placid little bundle she once was. Luckily, we've had plenty of other monkey-children around here and have become accustomed to it!

And here she is on her birthday. Biting her foot.

A year of Gus-Gus

I don't know what happened during this Gus-year. It's a blur to me now, looking back, and I can't remember if I decided NOT to take monthly pictures of Gus…or if I did take them and lost them…or if I meant to take them but didn't. Anyway, it's too bad, because Gussie was one of the babies that changed MOST during his first year! He went from a scrawny little elf to a…well…a chubby little Gus! So I went back and hunted down some somewhat similar pictures from each month to compare. And here they are! Sweet little Gussykins.

A year of Ziggy

Well, he's fourteen months old now, but here's a little monthly retrospective of baby Ziggy's first year.  It starts with one week, then shows him monthly till twelve months (below). (Here's Teddy's first year, and Goldie's, and Junie's.) 

It strikes me, looking at all these pictures, how cheekily all the babies start to loaf and loll about in the chair by the time they're twelve months old. Like they own the place! 

"I wasn't born yesterday, Mommy!" Ziggy seems to be saying. We sure love this sweet little brown-eyed monkey; how did we live without him?

A Year of Theodore

Oh, Theodore, or "Fee-doe-doe," as Goldie would say. We love him so much. Here he is every month during this first year of his life. Obviously, in the last picture, he doesn't WANT to lie down by that bunny, and doesn't know why I would ask him to do so. Poor lamb.

He had a good birthday. He and I shared the birthday cake Sam made. Yum!

He's the baby who has everything, so we didn't get him any presents—just wrapped up his blankie in a box for him to open. Abe was so scandalized that I would do such a thing! I thought it was a great idea. Teddy liked finding his blankie in that box.

And here he is helping Sam put a chair together and trying to bite a vertical(ish) bar—an important milestone which every baby should achieve!

A year of Marigold

The first picture is of Marigold at 3 days old, and the others are at one month, two months, and so on up to 12 months. She never really looked like a newborn, did she?

What a good little Goldie she is! We love her!

One Junie year in pictures

Well, I thought this would be . . . more impressive somehow. She stayed kind of tiny, didn't she?  There was some hair growth, though, and it's fun for me to see all these pictures in succession.  After this I'll post another series too.
