It's bad to put Halloween pictures up in December! Embarrassing, really! Yet here we are. Our number of trick-or-treaters are dwindling—this is Goldie's last year, and then there will be only 4 left!—but the older girls got given animal suits by some friends, so they at least had costumes to wear when they took the littles out. We did our usual firepit-and-hot-chocolate thing in the front yard, and had hordes and hordes of people come by. We went though 19 batches of crock-pot hot cocoa and over 350 cups!😱
There's a fun excitement in the air in our neighborhood with so many families out and kids trick-or-treating…I like it. And it was warm and nice! We didn't even need jackets till after dark! So good for Halloween!
Costumes, as always, were just pulled from the costume box the morning of Halloween, since creating fun and new ones each year is not one of my gifts (creating them at ALL is not my gift, since my mom basically made all our existing costumes). It's a good, low-stress method. The kids just wear whatever fits (and sometimes…what doesn't fit).
Cow-Junie
Tiger-Daisy. Or is she a kangaroo? I never quite knew.
This was just a big skeleton Clementine liked in our neighborhood—can you see he is holding a pumpkin full of tiny skeletons? So cute.
Little Monkey Gus
A monkey has a tail, and a very fine tail…
Doing monkey-like things?
SWAT team man
Goldie was a lovely young lady of quality, perhaps Emma Woodhouse? Or Anne Elliot? Or Jane Bennett?
I made the pig hats and pig noses when the three oldest boys were little and we made a "Three Little Pigs" book. Daisy got some out so she could match with Clementine.
Teddy was Darth Vadar

I love that you described the giant skeleton with a pumpkin full of skeletons as “cute”.
ReplyDeleteAnd, while I admire those who come up with clever, new costumes every year, there’s something happy and nostalgic about the same ones showing up year after year on different kids. I feel like we are just starting to outgrow most of our oft repeated ones and it makes me sad. Will nobody ever again be the frog or the monkey? What about the wolf that we’ve had since Abe? After 20 Halloweens is it done???
But! I’ve gotten off track. I love your neighborhood full of trick or treaters! And all your cocoa!!!
