In April I took graduation photos for my niece who was graduating from BYU, and Daisy came with me as an assistant to help smooth windblown hair and cheer up fussy babies and so forth. (Sweet Parker was never fussy though, bless him.) While we were there I took some pictures of Daisy too, since she'll be a BYU Student herself come September!
Anyway, it was a weird moment for me realizing that Daisy really is graduating and moving on to college. How is this happening?? It hadn't seemed real before this (and still doesn't, in a way…I'm sure there will be a few more of these moments of realisation throughout the summer too!). She did seem like she suddenly fit in there, amongst all the college students.

Taking these pictures with Katy reminded Daisy and me that we hadn't actually done any formal senior portraits for Daisy this year! It has all just gone so fast! But Daisy remembered how fun it had been doing them with Seb. So we scheduled a day on the calendar for us to take some photos for a graduation announcement for her in May, and here they are, all million of them! (Just kidding. Only some of the million of them.)
Junie came with us ("to make Daisy laugh," she said) so don't be alarmed if you see some pictures of Junie interspersed with those of Daisy. Junie is NOT graduating! Not yet! But she and Daisy have always considered themselves twins, so I guess it's fitting to have a few pictures of both of them here.
Daisy had all kinds of good ideas for the pictures we could take :)

Could be Daisy…

…nope, it's Junie!

Apparently this is the "Senior Picture rock" now (compare this photo of Seb:
Junie doing her job offscreen??
I love this one for some reason. Maybe it's her blowing hair!
Junie is making this face because she is practically doing the splits here to get lower than me (for the record, I never gave her permission to pass me up in height!)
Big sister…little sister?
Costume change!
For some reason this picture reminds me of Daisy's voicemail greeting. I wish you could hear it. She says, in the most syrupy and enunciated voice possible, "Hiii. This is Daisy Nielson speaking. Please leave your message and I will get back to you as soon as I possibly can. Thank you."
Ooh, she has such pretty eyes
I believe Junie is pretending to be George Washington crossing the Delaware
(She can't remember exactly what he does as he crosses the Delaware)

Now Daisy wants to be George Washington too.
A noble countenance
Eyes! Day's eyes.*
*The daisy flower does not just bud, blossom, and die like most other flowers. Rather it performs a daily routine of “sleeping” at night by closing and “waking” in the morning by opening up again. Because of this unusual trait and the whorled appearance of the flower, the daisy was given the Old English name dægeseage, meaning literally “day’s eye.” The distinctive ray-like appearance of the daisy as it opens and closes with the sun reminds one of an eye that opens in the morning and closes at night.

This might be my favorite picture of all of them.
I really love this of Junie too.
Or maybe this one's my favorite. I like her surrounded by pink.
Hooray for Daisy!
(P.S: This is the final announcement she sent out!)
