A place we love near Hubbard is Silver Falls State Park. It was so hot (we have had VERY hot weather on our trips to this area almost every time, so it must be more normal than I thought. I guess it's only on the coast that it's nearly always cool) that we decided to go in the evening so we'd be a little cooler. We have never been there at that time of day before and it was cool! Sebastian struck off on his own for a while and got some really cool pictures of the falls before the sun got too low.
The falls were noticeably less…watery?…compared to last time we came. Makes sense that the water flow would be less at the end of the summer than at the beginning. This is what it looks like in June:
Back to the present. This is one of Seb's pictures, of course.

The rest of us went up to the upper falls where there's a place to play in the water. It was hot and it seemed nice to wade a little!
It scared me when they crossed the river on this log (the water wasn't deep but I was just afraid Ziggy would fall and hit his head or something) but amazingly, no one fell in.

The lower falls. This is one of the waterfalls you can walk behind.
And this is the other-other falls. I always forget which. I think it's South Falls.

It was getting to be dusk by the time left. Fun to see it in the evening for once.
