III: Wings, Waves, and out to the coast

We celebrated two birthdays on this trip, Sebastian's and Clementine's. For Seb's, we had crêpes and strawberries, of course, which even by itself is the best birthday meal ever. Seb also requested that we go to a waterpark he had heard of called "Wings and Waves." It wasn't far from where we were staying and it was on the way to the coast, so we thought we could fit it in on the day we changed houses!
The main attraction of this waterpark (definitely for Seb, but presumably for everyone else too) is that the waterslides come out of a real 747 which is parked up on the roof! It is quite a sight to see when you drive up!
747s are so huge! Even though I'm not a fan of big waterslides, I walked up a million stairs just to see inside of the plane. It's cool how they have it set up. There are no seats, of course, so you just walk in to a kind of hub where four different slides come out of the plane and wind down into the building. You can kind of see two of them in the picture above. The kids said the slides were really fun!
The rest of the place was fun too. There was a wave pool and lots of children's areas, so the little ones and Sam and me quite enjoyed ourselves!
We didn't go to the Airplane Museum next door to the water park (it was expensive, and the water park was too!) but there was another 747 outside that you could walk around and see, so of course Sebastian wanted to do that. (They're his favorite planes.)

So big!
The drive to the coast from inland is so pretty and green, and the scenery changes quite a bit as you go. It had been hot in Hubbard, and it was cool and cloudy on the coast, like you had entered a whole different world.
Of course we stopped for clam chowder and crab melts at our favorite place, The Fish Peddler!
Our next house was tall and had such a pretty view of Netarts Bay. We have stayed nearby there before and I love to watch the tides come in and out! It rained nearly nonstop the first couple days we were there, and it was so snug and cozy to be inside reading or working on things and watching the rain and the bay.
Heron? or some other bird?
We'd brought the last of our strawberries, enough for a couple more crêpe dinners (one for Clementine's birthday!) and some more milkshakes.
We ventured down to the beach whenever it cleared up a little. There's Junie!
And Junie and Goldie and Teddy! They saw several seals playing in the water every time they went to the beach, but somehow I was never lucky enough to see one.
Pelicans!
Daisy bought a sweatshirt at The Fish Peddler. They didn't have any M or L, so she just bought the XL and was very content snuggling in it!
Sam and I had some really good sushi on our Friday night date. Fresh fish, fresh fish! So good.
