I don't know what to do

Brownie is missing.  I keep thinking we'll find him, but we don't.  Where can he have gone?

We have a Backup Brownie.  But I'm afraid if we get Backup Brownie out, Real Brownie will turn up, and all will be revealed.  Also, Backup Brownie looks newer (although not totally new---he's come through for us in the clutch before).

  1. We can tie a rope around backup Brownie and drag him behind the car for a few miles. Then they'll look about the same.

  2. We once found blankie (after a very traumatic two weeks) inside our tent. We had pitched it in the living room just for practice, Soph crawled in and cuddled with blankie, left said blankie there (unbeknownst to us) and we put the tent away.

My advice? Bring out backup Brownie. Worst case scenario, Seb realizes you have two of them and you just say that Santa must have taken one of the elves off Christmas-duty to quickly magic a second one for him and tell him what a lucky, good boy he is!

  3. Backup brownie needs his day in the sun. If real Brownie shows up, stuff him in the drawer real quick and act like you don't remember there ever being two Brownies.

  4. I have an idea: if he finds the original Brownie again tell him cryptically, "There's more than one of everything."

At some point in his future, when he is fighting an inter-dimensional war, your words will ring in his ears.

  5. So I got a back up mama fish, and then another, and then my mom got me one and we ended up with FOUR back up mama fishes. And they all ended up being found, and now they're all a fish family all the time. I think I blogged about that at some point.
But we've lost mama fish so many times. In a hotel room in Flagstaff AZ, in the pocket of a suitcase way back in a closet at Kris's mom's house....the list goes on. All I can say is we all prayed that we'd find her. I don't know how else we (and by we I mean I) would've found her. I've found her every time (so far).

  6. Gin's answer is the best one I can offer - he'll turn up. I hope. Sam's aging idea is . . . inventive. But really, Gin has found her every time. Now I'm curious as to whether you have unearthed him or not? Once Gin found mama fish in a shoebox at the very back of her mother-in-law's huge walk in closet, tucked behind all the clothes. ????? So, yeah - pray about it. Seems a small thing, but anything for a small person is a big thing.

  7. Well, for anyone still following this--we haven't found him. So backup Brownie came out and all was well again. ("He looks so fluffy and new!" Sebby said, but didn't seem interested in WHY.) It's so weird: like the fish, Brownie has ALWAYS turned up before. I'm thinking we must have left him at a store or somewhere, because the house has thoroughly searched. Although I'm usually pretty vigilant about not leaving him at stores. Or maybe he IS still in the house and I'm just going crazy. Anyway, thank goodness for Backup Brownie (for now).
