They have these tiny shopping carts at the grocery store, and sometimes I let the boys push them around. Sam was there with me the other day, and he said it was "like herding fish"---which is exactly right. I always feel like people are looking at us with amusement (pity? horror?) as we go on our merry, wiggly, way.

You've hit the nail on the head. That's exactly what it's like; fish who don't listen to anything you say. You are brave parents--fortunately our grocery store doesn't have those carts (my kids wouldn't be as darling as yours are in the pictures) or else my kids would be pulling everything off the shelves or ramming them into each other. I strap them in tight to those shopping carts that could fit about ten children, then proceed to whack every customer I pass by and to knock things off shelves while my kids scream about not being able to get out.
