"This Christmas, I was gifted a lovely sweater."
"I gifted these chocolates to my neighbors."
"Keep it for yourself, or gift it to a friend."
"Perfect for last-minute gifting."
Why? Why?? Why????
Resist the urge to use new, trendy and unnecessary verbs. Resist, I say!!
Christmas is a time of giving. Or even gift-giving, if you prefer.
Not "gifting."

I agree wholeheartedly!
ReplyDeleteBut what do you think of the verb re-gift? I think re-gifting can't be said any other way.
ReplyDeleteWell . . . okay, I think I can tolerate "re-gift." But that's as far as I'll go!
ReplyDeleteWell...I was going to gift you $10,000, but now...
ReplyDeleteBeth you can gift it to me!
